CLEAR BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Enquiries & selling your scrap

What an online enquiry means, what happens before purchase, and what you need to provide.

Version 2026-10-19.2 · Updated 19 October 2026

1. An enquiry is a starting point

Submitting a form asks Copperex Recycling Pty Ltd to assess your material and contact you. It does not create an obligation to sell, a confirmed purchase, an agreed final price or a collection booking. You can decide whether to proceed after the relevant details have been discussed.

2. How the offer is worked out

Photos, descriptions and estimated quantities help us make an initial assessment. Any indicative price is subject to inspection, actual material composition, grading and weighing. Keep different grades separate where practical. Tell us about insulation, steel attachments, moisture, tyres or other non-metal material that may affect the assessment.

Before agreeing the sale, confirm the material grade, gross weight, any tare or non-payable weight, net payable weight, rate, total and the GST basis where relevant. Any collection, removal or other charge must be disclosed and agreed. A changed assessment should be explained and agreed before the sale proceeds.

3. Collection and delivery

Collection depends on the material, quantity, suburb, access and available capacity. Free pickup is not automatic. Confirm the collection window, loading arrangements and any charges directly with Copperex. A preferred date entered on the form is only a request. Do not travel to a premises or arrange a delivery until the destination and arrangements are confirmed.

4. Ownership and authority to sell

You must own the material or have the owner's authority to arrange its sale. Do not offer stolen material, material subject to a dispute about ownership, or material you are not authorised to remove. For company-owned scrap, the company details and the required signed sale authority must be obtained before purchase. The enquiry checkbox is a preliminary declaration; it does not replace that authority or identity checks.

5. Identity and transaction records

Before purchase, the seller's identity must be checked using acceptable photo identification. NSW scrap metal transaction records include the seller's name, residential address and date of birth as shown on acceptable photo ID; company transactions require the relevant company details and sale authority. Other required information includes the transaction date, material description and quantity or weight, and payment details.

Do not send ID documents, date of birth or bank details through the initial quote form. We arrange the transaction-stage checks separately. Required scrap metal transaction records must be retained for three years in the approved form and manner. An online tick does not complete those obligations.

6. Payment and paperwork

Copperex uses bank transfer for scrap purchases. Cash payment is not available. The purchase calculation records the agreed transaction; the bank transfer receipt separately records the payment instruction. Agree payment arrangements before proceeding. A transfer receipt does not guarantee that cleared funds have arrived: timing depends on the banks.

7. Safe, accurate load information

Describe the load and access accurately. Tell us about heavy items, loading equipment, restricted access, tyres, fluids, batteries or potentially hazardous material before arranging a handover. Do not include these items without specific acceptance. AC units must be assessed for safe preparation; do not cut refrigerant lines or release refrigerant to prepare scrap.

8. Your information and your choices

We use your enquiry details and photos to assess the load, respond and discuss arrangements. The Privacy Notice explains storage, access and requests. Enquiry contact permission is not permission for unrelated marketing. These explanations do not exclude or restrict rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

For questions, corrections or concerns, email info@copperexrecycling.com.au and include your enquiry reference if available.
